The Bishop and the entire Anglican Diocese of Zaria warmly invite the clergy, delegates, members of the Diocese, friends of the Anglican Communion and the wider Christian community to the Second Session of the 6th Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Zaria.
This important ecclesiastical gathering will take place from Friday, 6 November to Sunday, 8 November 2026, at All Saints Anglican Church, Samaru, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Under the inspiring theme, “Life in the Power of the Presence of God”, drawn from Genesis 39:2–3, this Synod provides an opportunity for spiritual reflection, corporate worship, fellowship, deliberation and renewed commitment to the mission and ministry of the Church.
We look forward to welcoming you to this significant gathering as we seek to deepen our understanding of God’s abiding presence and its transformative power in the life of every believer and the Church.
ABOUT THE SYNOD
The Synod is an important gathering in the life and administration of the Anglican Diocese of Zaria. It provides an opportunity for the Bishop, clergy, lay representatives and other delegates of the Diocese to come together in prayer, worship, fellowship and collective deliberation on matters concerning the spiritual growth, mission, governance and development of the Church.
The Second Session of the 6th Synod of the 6th Synod cycle represents another important opportunity to strengthen our shared commitment to the Gospel, encourage Christian unity, reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the Church, and discern God’s direction for the Diocese.
Through worship, biblical reflection, discussions and ecclesiastical deliberations, participants will be encouraged to renew their dedication to the service of God and humanity.
THE SYNOD THEME
LIFE IN THE POWER OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Biblical Text: Genesis 39:2–3
The presence of God is the foundation of a meaningful, purposeful and victorious Christian life. The story of Joseph in Genesis 39:2–3 provides a powerful illustration of how God’s presence can sustain, strengthen and distinguish a believer, even in difficult and uncertain circumstances.
Despite the challenges Joseph encountered in Egypt, Scripture records that the Lord was with him and that His presence brought favour, success and divine enablement to his endeavours.
This year’s Synod theme calls the Church and every believer to rediscover the significance of living consciously in God’s presence. It challenges us to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, demonstrate unwavering faith, remain steadfast in service and manifest the values of God’s Kingdom in our daily lives.
It also reminds the Church that genuine spiritual strength, effective ministry and enduring fruitfulness are rooted not merely in human ability or institutional structures but in the abiding presence and power of God.
As we gather for this Synod, may we be inspired to live, serve and fulfil our divine assignments in the power of His presence.
