Our Mission

Our mission is a continuation of Christ’s earthly ministry (John 14:12). These include preaching and teaching, announcing and testifying, making disciples and bearing witness to the world about Christ Jesus.

The Anglican Diocese of Zaria exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurture believers in faith, and transform communities through love, service, and spiritual development. Guided by the teachings of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Diocese is committed to holistic ministry that addresses spiritual, social, and developmental needs across its geographical coverage.

Our mission is both timeless and practical: to live out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) in a way that is relevant, impactful, and sustaining for all communities we serve.

Mission Statement

“To advance the Kingdom of God through faithful evangelism, discipleship, community service, and leadership development, fostering spiritual growth, social transformation, and unity among all believers.”

Strategic Pillars of Our Mission

To ensure that the mission of the Diocese is actionable and measurable, it is anchored on the following strategic pillars:

1. Evangelism and Discipleship

  • Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ across urban and rural communities.
  • Equipping members to live faithfully as disciples through teaching, Bible studies, and small group ministries.
  • Strengthening local church evangelism programs and mission initiatives.

2. Worship and Spiritual Formation

  • Promoting meaningful, reverent, and spirit-led worship experiences.
  • Encouraging holistic spiritual growth through prayer, fasting, and Christian education.
  • Supporting clergy, lay ministers, and congregants in their journey of faith.

3. Leadership Development

  • Identifying, mentoring, and empowering future church leaders.
  • Offering structured leadership training for clergy, lay ministers, youth, and women leaders.
  • Ensuring effective administration and governance within the Diocese.

4. Community Engagement and Social Transformation

  • Responding to the social, economic, and health needs of communities.
  • Organizing outreach programs, health initiatives, and educational support.
  • Addressing poverty alleviation, justice, and care for the vulnerable in society.

5. Unity and Fellowship

  • Promoting harmony and collaboration among parishes, deaneries, and diocesan ministries.
  • Encouraging ecumenical partnerships and interfaith dialogue where appropriate.
  • Strengthening a sense of belonging and mutual support within the Diocese.

Our Mission in Action

The Diocese brings its mission to life through practical ministries, including:

  • Youth programs and evangelistic outreach
  • Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild, and Girls’ Guild initiatives
  • Men’s Fellowship and Lay Ministry services
  • Education, health, and social development projects
  • Media and communication outreach to connect congregants and communities
  • Chaplaincies, parishes, and mission stations across the Diocese

Through these efforts, the Anglican Diocese of Zaria seeks to be a transformative presence in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.

Commitment to Excellence

The Diocese is committed to carrying out its mission with integrity, professionalism, and spiritual authenticity. Every ministry, program, and initiative is designed to reflect the love of Christ, uphold biblical principles, and strengthen the Church’s witness in society.

We are resolute in our mission to:

  • Serve with humility and faithfulness
  • Engage communities with compassion and justice
  • Equip members for effective ministry and witness
  • Build a strong, united, and spiritually vibrant Diocese

Call to Participation

Our mission is not accomplished by clergy alone—it requires the active involvement of every member. The Diocese encourages all believers to:

  • Participate in worship and ministry activities
  • Serve in any of the diocesan chaplaincies or service arms
  • Support evangelism, education, and social outreach programs
  • Commit to personal and communal spiritual growth

Together, we fulfill God’s mandate and make a lasting impact on our communities.

“Our Mission guides every action, every ministry, and every initiative of the Anglican Diocese of Zaria—uniting us in purpose, faith, and service.”
