Our Vision

Overview

The Anglican Diocese of Zaria envisions a spiritually vibrant, socially transformative, and mission-oriented Diocese where every believer is empowered to live faithfully, serve faithfully, and impact communities with the love of Christ.

Our vision is anchored in biblical principles, guided by the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37–40) to love God and neighbor, and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) to make disciples of all nations. It is also shaped by the pastoral vision of The Rt. Rev’d Ishaya G. Baba, consecrated as Bishop on April 3, 2022.

The Diocese is committed to holistic growth—spiritual, moral, social, and organizational—to ensure that faith is lived out dynamically across all communities under its care.

Vision Statement

“To be a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, and mission-driven Diocese that nurtures disciples, fosters community transformation, and demonstrates God’s love in action throughout Zaria and beyond.”

Bishop’s Pastoral Vision

Bishop Ishaya G. Baba envisions a Diocese that:

  1. Empowers Spiritual Growth:
Develops believers who are grounded in Scripture, prayer, and godly living.
  2. Strengthens Discipleship and Leadership:
Identifies, mentors, and equips clergy, lay leaders, and youth for faithful service.
  3. Expands Evangelism and Mission Outreach:
Extends the Gospel message through purposeful evangelism, church planting, and community engagement.
  4. Fosters Unity and Fellowship:
Promotes collaboration among parishes, deaneries, ministries, and communities, ensuring a strong sense of belonging.
  5. Transforms Communities:
Implements initiatives in education, health, social welfare, and economic empowerment to positively impact lives.

The Bishop emphasizes holistic ministry—spiritual growth integrated with social responsibility—to ensure the Church is relevant, impactful, and transformative.

Strategic Vision Goals

The Diocese’s long-term strategic vision is expressed in five key goals:

1. Spiritual Maturity

  • Strengthen personal and corporate prayer life across all parishes.
  • Encourage regular Bible study and discipleship programs for all age groups.
  • Promote a culture of holiness, integrity, and Christian values.

2. Evangelism and Church Growth

  • Expand outreach initiatives within rural and urban communities.
  • Establish new mission stations and support church planting efforts.
  • Engage communities through media, social outreach, and educational programs.

3. Leadership Development

  • Train clergy, lay leaders, youth, and women for leadership roles.
  • Offer mentorship, workshops, and seminars to enhance governance and ministry skills.
  • Build a pipeline of leaders committed to service, integrity, and excellence.

4. Community Transformation

  • Implement projects in education, health, agriculture, and social welfare.
  • Promote programs that reduce poverty, provide vocational skills, and empower vulnerable groups.
  • Collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations for sustainable community development.

5. Institutional Excellence

  • Strengthen diocesan administration and governance systems.
  • Ensure transparency, accountability, and efficient use of resources.
  • Develop infrastructure for parishes, ministries, and diocesan programs to enhance effectiveness.

Our Vision in Action

The Anglican Diocese of Zaria pursues its vision through:

  • Worship & Spiritual Formation: Inspiring worship services and prayer-focused programs
  • Youth & Women Ministries: Empowering the next generation and women leaders
  • Lay Ministries & Service Arms: Engaging lay members in active service across the Diocese
  • Community & Social Outreach: Implementing health, educational, and empowerment programs
  • Media & Communication: Using modern technology to broadcast the Gospel and keep members connected

By aligning all activities to this vision, the Diocese ensures holistic growth, spiritual vitality, and meaningful societal impact.

Invitation to Share the Vision

The Diocese encourages all members, partners, and visitors to join in advancing this vision. Every act of worship, service, and ministry contributes to the fulfillment of God’s plan through the Diocese.

“Together, we can create a Christ-centered community that transforms lives, strengthens faith, and demonstrates God’s love in action across Zaria and beyond.”
