Overview

The ministry of the Clergy and Evangelists forms the spiritual and pastoral backbone of the Anglican Diocese of Zaria. These devoted servants of God are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of preaching the Gospel, administering the sacraments, shepherding congregations, and advancing the mission of the Church within the Diocese.

Working across numerous parishes and mission stations in both urban and rural communities, the clergy and evangelists serve faithfully in pastoral care, evangelism, discipleship, teaching, and community outreach. Their ministry contributes significantly to the growth and spiritual development of the Church within the Diocese.

As part of the wider mission of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the clergy and evangelists of the Diocese play a vital role in spreading the message of Christ and nurturing the faith of believers.


The Ministry of the Clergy

The ordained clergy of the Anglican Diocese of Zaria consist of Archdeacons, Canons, and Priests who serve in various parishes and administrative roles across the Diocese. Their responsibilities include:

  • Preaching and teaching the Word of God

Zaria Diocese

The Anglican Diocese of Zaria was created out of the present Kaduna Diocese and inaugurated on the 7th of March, 2007 as the 99th Diocese in the Church of Nigeria with the Rt. Rev’d. (Prof) CSS Bello as the Pioneer Bishop. After him was the Rt. Rev’d. Abiodun Ogunyemi, then Rt. Rev’d Dr. Timothy Yahaya as supervising Bishop. The current Bishop is the Rt. Rev’d Ishaya Baba.
